We arrived at the Commodore Yacht Club in Nashville yesterday afternoon where the boat is docked and the Commander-In-Chief and I are batching it for the week while Jackie is in Key West getting our house there ready to go back on the market (big sigh). The run from Clarksville to Nashville via the Cheatham Lock was beautiful and interesting. Fewer fisherman occupied the waters than we encountered the day before but, especially around Ashland and as we approached Nashville, docks and tied up boats slowed us considerably. Do unto others . . .
We somewhat stupidly passed the American Melody, a river boat cruise ship, a few miles downstream of the Cheatham Lock and then had to wait to share the lock with it in order to move upstream.

It was the first time we had shared a lock with a river boat. The captain was incredibly courteous and polite. Typically, the front boat in a lock departs first and we were tied up well behind American Melody but the lockmaster asked us to depart before the river boat to keep him from bumping us around with the turbulence he would create when he left the lock. The captain swapped engines so that we would not be "waked" as we went by him and wished us a safe trip--a true gentleman.

I can't resist including the screen shot of our chart plotter below. Here we are in Tennessee and even the rivers offer a whiskey bar! I have a strict policy and never drink a drop when I am or will be underway. Still, I smiled.

In the next picture, you catch the drift of our happy family afloat: the Commander in Chief, sanguine as always; the admiral, keeping an eye on Cap; and, yours truly who despite the way it looks is ALWAYS on point.

The Commander in Chief finds it hard to believe that we live in the "same house" but that we're in a different place everyday. He has become more and more comfortable in the cockpit checking out where ever we are tonight. He misses the Admiral but will be happy that his surroundings are the same for a few days. He enjoys cocktail hour in the cockpit with Cap--especially with Cap's crackers and cheese!

Speaking of surroundings, ten miles or so from downtown Nashville, we are in the most lovely, secluded, and protected spot. I held my breath winding our way in here--the pool is low and there is not a lot of water-- but, safe inside, the Commodore Yacht Club, plain and down to earth, is a great place to be.

Jackie left at 07:00 this morning. I got a lot done today--consulting, boat clean up, a little relaxing, and the very first professional beard trim I have ever had. Thank you, Cheryl.

Now, you would think that, when a personage such as I, along with the Commander in Chief, arrived in Nashville, that Taylor Swift would invite us to dinner. We are waiting. But, in the meantime, our good friend from Maine, Marie Gerrity, who spends a lot of time here, is all over it and I am very much looking forward to seeing her and perhaps Peter and her sons, Charlie and Henry, tomorrow.
The Commander in Chief is demanding dinner. I gotta run.
